| 10.2.13 It's amazing how awesome my year 3 life has been. There's this lecturer that actually left an extreme huge impact in my poly life. Yes, that's right. My FYP supervisor, Mr Tey! First time we saw him he's just one young lecturer to us (32 for a lecturer is really young). All we know is he just came to teach for about a year. So, I immediately think, well he's just a young lecturer and maybe he won't even know what's going on. And, I think his look is not bad for a lecturer. But he has this super stern face. (Oh come on, looking at all the old lecturers for years and finally one not bad looking lecturer.) The other room's girls were envy and stuff. I'm blessed cause I'm in his team and I know there's tons of people snatching this project. And thank god for my 3.2 GPA I got to get hold onto this project. To whoever decides who get the project, I THANK YOU SO MUCH. So, after few weeks of him trying to tell me what to do for my software.. I told him the truth. I didn't quite understand what's going on for my software portion. LOL Well, he was really nice and patient to actually teach me and actually correct my program. I mean like seriously, it's everything that I've would never thought of. Idk if he was stronger in hardware or software. I was damn confused. And we were all told not to touch WSS's equipment. But he kept telling us, go ahead just use it. Tell them Mr Tey said we could use. My impression kind of changed? I was like, erm you're a new lecturer here and how daring you are to actually be this brave to say all those words. After finding out he's actually one of the World Skill lecturer.. I'm totally shocked by him. HAHA I've to say he have being giving me tons of shocking news through out this whole year 3 life. The very first External review. He was really nice to talk to me outside the class. Telling me I'll be "attacked" by the lecturers. Told me that don't get too shocked and be more prepared. And said Jia You to me. Didn't know that he actually graded me an A. Which actually kind of gave me a shock of my life for the first time. People have been saying, "FYP is hard to score an A." Well, Idk but I always feel that presenting on what you have work on is easy. And I found out I was being appointed to be the "Overall-In-Charge" of both group. I kind of guessed it actually cause no one else in the group is giving much shit about what's going on. I mean they do do their stuffs but not much of what others are doing. So, I'm kind of the "mother" of them all. I've got to rush them or guide them. I'm actually kind of thankful that he put that much amount of trust in me. Being a leader is never easy. I just like to help out, not really lead though. Slowly, all of us got closer with Mr Tey. I always email him to ask questions. And I don't text him cause I didn't get his number personally. Cause I always find it rude to get people's number without permission. So during pdd2, I'm kind of stuck at the flash memory part. And I mean yeah, Mr Wong is nice but he don't go straight to the point. He wants me to read read read. Which I really read and don't understand. So.. I've got no choice but to consult Mr Tey. Seriously, I've regretted not asking him for so many times. It took less than 30 mins. And I solved everything. This is how fast he could teach. Oh and some of my friends actually asked him for help for their fyp. And he didn't know all of us were friends until that day I went to help Siew Yu with her IO expander. He went to look for her and I was there. I was kind of helping SY to troubleshoot. And I think, I'm kind of shock by how much I've learnt from him. I used to be one person that's lazy to troubleshoot anything. Be it hardware or software. But I've actually advise people to do troubleshooting for their project. I'm amazed by how I've changed. Then we kind of discuss with him about SY's problem. But I have to rush off to do my FYP. LOL and it's really funny that I told him "I go back to project first uh!" and he say "okay! go go" LOL I mean he's my supervisor of course he won't say no and ask me stay back and help siew yu. LOL Then slowly, we all became Mr Tey's friend LOL I mean we were close to friend. But still lecturer and student relationship. Then PDD2 Examiner review. Sharon got in with me this time round! And the moment I saw him, I was like "HOW COULD YOU NOT INFORM ME ABOUT ME GETTING INTO ER?! I WAS SO WORRIED I DIDN'T GET IN" All he does was laugh and said "You should know where you stand. And you left the panel a good impression." and something about read between the lines for my grade See, this lecturer always give me shocking news. LOL I was kind of shocked where I was in the ranking of my room's result. The room I'm belonged in was filled with AD FYP students. My result was comparable with those people. You got no idea how shocked I was that day. Then blah blah blah. Few days ago we all found out how he got into University. Mind blown. LOL Yesterday I texted him a Thank you message: "Hello Mr Tey! Thank you for being such an awesome supervisor! Thanks for being so patient with all of us. Never regretted getting into this project and I know I may not be the smartest student you've know but thank you for all those help you've given me through this project. Actually, you've kind of inspired me to be a lecturer. But I don't know if I'm able to reach that goal. And.. 你真的是好人! ^_^ Anyway, Happy Chinese New Year in advance!" Frankly speaking, I'm worried he'll laugh and make fun of me being so dumb to send such message. But, he replied: "Hi Hui Chen, don't mention that. I did not help you but it is you who put in the effort to get the project up and running. Have confidence, I am sure one day you will do well in your career. Remember it is not all about results, it is about your attitude as well. Happy chinese new year! :D" I was so touched. I gave him credit for my result, he gave them back to me. I just hope I could get into University and get my degree. Then I'll try to work towards my goal. Please let me get into NTU. And, Thank you Mr Tey. You've been such a nice supervisor to all of us. So thankful I get to work with you for FYP. Thank you. Thank you so much. (': | The Girl Huichen 150892 Proud to be a Leo. Flawed yet Awesome. Inferior yet Shameless at times.
